Sinking Feelings

Sinking feelings get a bad name

Not all sinking feelings are omens

Warning of sorrow and dread to come

In fact if I can stay still

A little longer than is comfortable

I find that all my feelings sink

Next time you feel it with you

Invite contentment to sink down slowly

Like your feet in the soppy wet sand

At the edge of the surf

Snuggling a bit deeper with each wave's

Final flourish on the shore

Let security sink ever so slightly

And ever so gently

Down into the warm bed of safety

That is covered in a blanket of trust

You need not struggle as you sink here

Slipping down into sacred rest

Allow hope to sink down to depths

As deep as you need it to go

Drifting and flitting and dancing down

Like a playful copper penny

Making its surprisingly dynamic path

To the bottom of a well of wishes

The further each of these sink down

The clearer it becomes to me

The danger of grief and woe come

Not from the sinking of the feeling

But from the way we fight to stay above

The thing we're meant to be inside

About Bee Reed

They/Them/She/Her

As a writer, Bee finds inspiration in all sorts of places. Among their writing you'll find pieces influenced by the beautiful and boisterous queer nightlife scene, their personal exploration of all things spiritual, people they've met, loves they've lost, and the general hilarity that inevitably arises through the trials of existing as a human amongst other humans. Although Bee has proudly called Philly home since 2009, their country roots have never quite left them.
